First Generation

1. August Wollin was born about 1856 in Germany. He died on 29 April 1913 at the age of 57 in Norwood, Carver, Minnesota, United States.

From the Norwood Times newspaper dated July 14, 1892:

"NOTICE to Saloon Keepers and others"
"You, and each of you, are hereby notified to not sell, or give to August Wollin, of Norwood, Minn., any intoxicating liquors, of any kind. Take warning, as the law will be enforced by the undersigned town board of Young America Township.
Date at Norwood this 7th day of July 1892.
Henry Vogler, Ch.
John Glaeser
Henry Lindert"

It would seem from this that August Wollin may have had a bit more alcohol than he could handle at some point. If an article would be printed in the newspapers like that today, you can surely bet there would be a lawsuit for slander.

August Wollin and Willemina Karoline "Minnie" Gronert were married in 1875. Willemina Karoline "Minnie" Gronert, daughter of Unknown Gronert, was born on 8 August 1855.
From the 1940 United States Census there is an entry for Theodore Wollin from Norwood, it shows Theodore as Head at age 63, Matilda as wife at age 63, and Willemina as mother at age 84.

She died on 29 July 1947 at the age of 91 at At her home in in Norwood, Carver, Minnesota, United States.

August Wollin and Willemina Karoline "Minnie" Gronert had the following children:

William "Willie" Wollin was born about 1891. He died on 14 June 1906 at the age of 15 in Norwood, Minnesota, United States.
From the Norwood Times Newspaper dated June 21, 1906:

"WM. Wollin Dead

Died - Willie Wollin, the fifteen year old son of August Wollin who resides on a farm just east of town, died on Thursday, June 14th after an illness of about two weeks. The funeral occurred Saturday and the remains were laid to rest in the Lutheran cemetery at Young America. Rev. Baumhoefener officiating.

The funeral was largely attended and all had words of sympathy for Mr. and Mrs. Wollin and family. The Times wishes to join in sympathy with the others.

Mr. and Mrs. Wollin are hard working people and this loss of their son is indeed trying for them, as he had arrived at the age when he would have been much help to them on the farm."
