Teddy Wollin

Theodore "Teddy" Wollin was born to August and Wilhelmina Karoline "Minnie" Wollin (Gronert) on August 24, 1875 in Milford, Wisconsin. He had two brothers (Emil Louis Wollin) and William "Willie" Wollin, and two sisters Ella Wollin and Lena W. Wollin. Around 1898 the family moved from Wisconsin to Carver County in Minnesota. On March 27, 1901 he married Mathilda Sophia Witzke. Together they had two daughters, Esther and Leona, and one son name Albert who died 13 days after birth.

This is the first recorded record I have about Teddy. A newspaper article from the Norwood Times newspaper tells of a tragic accident that happened to Teddy when he was working with his calves and horses. He was 33 years old at the time. Click on the image to the left to view the article.

Here is the text of the article:

Badly Hurt
Norwood Times - Friday, January 17, 1908

Theodore Wollin met with an exceedingly painful injury Monday afternoon which will keep him from his work for some time.
He was engaged in driving a calf out of the barn and while doing so one of the horses kicked at the calf and struck Mr. Wollin in the face.

Several of his teeth were knocked out and the sharp shoes tore his face up badly.
The accident was a serious one but we hope to see Mr. Wollin able to be about soon.

Note: Teddy would recover from his injuries and return to work. The next pages tells of his other employment work and a picture of him sitting at a bar having a cold drink on a warm day would make him somewhat of a local celebrity for his time.
