| This is a picture of William "Bill" Frederick Wollin with his cousins. He is the young boy standing in the middle and is estimated to be about 4 years old. It is assummed based on the estimated ages of the other children that these might be Bertha Verch (sitting, age 12-13), Emma Verch (standing, age 11-12), Paul Verch (standing, age 10-11), and Richard "Dick" Verch (sitting, age 8-9). I had seen this picture many times, but it wasn't until I digitalized it, and was able to zoom into it, that I noticed each of the kids are wearing rings on their fingers. Based on the estimated ages for the children it would date this picture to be about 1910. The picture was taken in Waconia, Minnesota near where all the family lived at that time. |
