Cologne Death Ruled Suicide
Norwood Times - December 1, 1950

" The death Saturday of a Cologne resident Paul Verch was ruled a suicide by the Carver county coroners office.

Mr. Verch, who was 50 years old and a farmer, was found hanging in his barn according to information released Wednesday by the sheriff's office. The death was investigated by Coroner B. H. Simons and Sheriff L. Melchert."

" Funeral services for Paul Verch, 50, were held Tuesday, November 28 at two p.m. from the Yetzer Funeral Home in Waconia, Re. Loppnow officiating. Interment was made in Lakeview cemetery, Waconia.

His death Saturday, November 25th was ruled a suicide due to ill health by the Carver County coroner's office. Mr. Verch was found hanging in his barn, according to information released by the sheriff's office. The death was investigated by Coroner B. H Simons and Sheriff Lester W. Melchert.

Paul Verch, son of August and Wilhelmina Hoeft, was born on March 31, 1900. It was on February 24, 1934, that he was married to Alma Jaekel of Mayer. During the course of their married life, they lived at Waconia, on the Verch farm near Chaska, at Hopkins where he was employed with Minneapolis Moline.

Due to ill health which set in 1945 they moved to Benton and later to hancock Township where his death occurred on November 25, 1950.

He is survived by his wife and children Clarice, Virgil, Elroy, Duane and two grandchildren as well as four sisters and three broters."
