Obituary Of The Late William Verch
Norwood Times - May 11, 1961

"Ernst Friedrich William Verch, born on November 26, 1888, at Mayer, Minnesota, was the son of August Verch and his wife, Mina nee Hoeft. He was baptized at Mayer on January 6, 1889 and confirmed at the Lutheran church of Mayer on April 16, 1905 by Pastor Kollmorgen.

For several years the couple resided south of Gotha. They moved to the farm place on highway 212 west of Cologne about 24 years ago. there they made their home until the time of his death.

He entered the Waconia hospital on Sunday, April 23 where he died on Tuesday, May 2 at the age of 72 years, 5 months and 6 days. The cause of death was uremia.

His death is mourned by his wife, Clara; one brother Herman Verch of Shakopee, and three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Aughe of Wayzata, Mrs. Henry Wanderei of Excelsior, and mrs. gus Braun of young America. There are also a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, seven nieces and nice nephews.

Six brothers, two sisters and his parents preceded him in death. Funeral services were held at Waconia on Thursday evening, May 4, at 8 p.m. with the Memorial service at Zion Lutheran church of Cologne on Friday, May 6 at 1:30. The Rev. John E. Melchert officiated. Burial was in Zion Lutheran cemetery.

Casketbearers were Vergil Verch, Duane Verch, William Gummow, Ernst Trick, Gerald Edberg and Maynard Eggersgluess."

"Family services were conducted at Yetzer's in Waconia on Thursday evening, May 4th at 8 p.m. for the deceased Ernst Friedrich William Verch. memorial services were at Zion Lutheran Church of Colgne on Friday, May 5th at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. John E. Melchert officiated. Burial was in the Zion Lutheran cemetery.

Casketbearers were Vergil Verch, Duane Verch, Wm. Gummow, Ernst Trick, Gerald Edberg, and Maynard Eggergluess.

Mr. Verch entered the Waconia Hospital on Sunday, April 23. His condition would not respond to medical treatment and he became weaker and weaker. He passed away from this life on Tuesday, May 2, 1961 at the age of 72 years, 5 months, and 6 days. The cause of death was uremia.

Surviving are his loving wife Clara; one brother Herman Verch of Shakopee; three sisters Mrs. Bertha Aughe of Wayzata, Mrs. Henry Emma Wanderei of Excelsior and Hattie mr.s Gu Braun of young America. There are also a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in -law, 7 nieces and 9 nephews.

Mr. Verch was born on Nov. 26, 1888 at Mayer, a son of August Verch and his wife Mina nee Hoeft. He was baptized at Mayer on Jan.6, 1889 and confirmed at the Lutheran Church of Mayer on April 16, 1905.

On Sept. 12, 1931 he was united in marriage with Miss Clara Ohlan at the Zion Lutheran Church near Cologne.
