Services Held for Mrs. Alvina M. Trick
Waconia Patriot - February 24, 1949

"Suddenly and unexpecedly God called Mrs. Alvina Mathilde Trick out of this earthly life unto Himself in Heaven.

During these last few months she had been ailing, yet she was always up and around doing her housework. On Saturday afternoon, February 19th, she was suddenly and unexpectedly stricken with heart failure and died soon thereafter, about 4:00 p.m.

Mrs. Trick, daughter of Mr. And Mrs. August Verch, was born in Jackobsdof, Germany in the province of Pommerania, on September 18, 1881.

At the age of three years she came to America with her parents and settled at first in the vicinity of Waconia, then moved to Helvetia, near Mayer. After attending the Lutheran Christian Day School at Mayer, and after her instruction, she was confirmed at the Helvetia Lutheran church on Palm sunday, April 7, 1895.

On June 5th, 1902, she was united in holy marriage with Julius Trick. God blessed this union with seven children, one of these, George, dying in infancy.

Later the family moved to the farm near Young America, where she lived until her dying day. Mr. Trick died on September 29, 1921 and left her alone with her family of small children. She and the children managed the farm.

For many years she was a faithful and sincere member of the St. John's Lutheran church, always a regular attendant and a frequent guest at the Lords's Holy Table. She brought up her children in the fear and admonition of the Lord.

Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday afternoon at the St. John's Lutheran church, with interment in the church cemetry. Rev. W. P. Kramr officiating at the services.

She leaves to mourn her sudden departure her six living children Mathilda (Mrs. Charles Stender) of Dent, Minnesota; Hattie at home, Gottlieb of Mayer; Julius of Excelsior; Selma (Mrs. Cilbert Hasse) of Mayer; and Ernst at home. Also survining are 18 grandchildren; four brothers and three sisters and many other near and dear relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Melvin Feltmann, Wilbur Feltmann, Wilmer Hoernermann, Raymond Mesenbring, Alfred Schmidt and Clarence Maschke."
